A native ephemeral woodland perennial that is one of the first plants to emerge in spring. Over time will spread and form an attractive ground cover. Mayapples get small white flowers in mid spring. Mayapples prefer part shade to shade and will do well under large deciduous trees in woodland gardens. Its native habitat is in moist woodlands. Mayapples are an ephemeral perennial which means they will go dormant in the summer.

Mayapple leaves are toxic if consumed so keep this in mind if your animals tend to eat plants!
